Study circle session about "State-of-the-art on fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) in district heating networks and building systems"

Published online: 17.05.2022

Sara Månsson from Utilifeed, a data-oriented company helping district heating companies utilise their data in Sweden, spoke about fault detection and diagnosis based on data from district heating networks.

Sara presented that up to 75 % of all buildings in Sweden have deviation behaviour with faults in the substations.

Example of potential savings in Sweden by reducing the supply temperature in the district heating network: Sweden is supplying approximately 50 TWh/year with a 42.7 °C supply temperature. The potential cost saving by reducing the supply temperature to 34 °C and by assuming that we save 1.25 SEK per °C MWh results in an 850 million SEK yearly cost saving potential.
